Yvonne needed a wardrobe update and overhaul. She was holding on to items from high school that were outdated and didn't fit her anymore. We went through her closet by section (tops, bottoms, shoes) and eliminated items that she hadn't worn in years. We also made a list of items that she needed based on her body type and lifestyle (i.e., blazers, blouses, color, pattern, black leggings, high-waisted skirts, day dresses, black jeans, etc).
Budget: $150 at Goodwill, $100 at Target
Bought at Goodwill: 5 pairs of pants, 1 skirt, 8 sweaters, 3 blazers
Bought at Target: 1 dress, 1 skirt, 1 pair of leggings, 3 pairs of shoes, 4 blouses, 1 pair of jeans
Spent: $136 at Goodwill, $240 at Target
Time: 6 hours
Sarah hadn't gone on a real shopping spree in years. She had been pregnant and was currently nursing her second child, so she wanted items that were practical, comfortable, and looked great on her. We went through her closet and Sarah chose to donate some items to charity. Many of her pieces were so worn that they had lost their shape. We made a list of most-needed items such as pants (updated silhouettes, skinny jeans, leggings, work slacks), shoes (work heels, winter shoes, boots), dresses, pattern, color, scarves, sweaters, and blouses.
Budget: Under $300
Bought: 4 pairs of pants, 4 pairs of shoes (including 2 pairs of boots), 8 sweaters, 7 blouses, 4 cardigans
Spent: $330 at Buffalo Exchange
Time: 4 hours
Katherine had gained a bit of weight and felt depressed when getting dressed each morning because there were only a few items in her closet that fit her current shape. She needed updated items in a different size than she had previously bought and she needed some support. Katherine wasn't ready for me to look in her closet, so we met at Goodwill and spent time picking things that she loved and felt good in.
Bought: 2 pairs of shoes, 2 skirts, 14 tops (blouses and sweaters)
Spent: $94 at Goodwill
Time: 2 hours
